About Us

James and Liz Langton Way originally set up Friendly Paws™ in 1999, when they reached the decision never to send their own dogs to kennels. Realising that many other pet owners probably felt the same, they launched their personal and experienced house and pet sitting service in south and east Kent.

It has since developed in a highly successful organisation with plenty of repeat and word-of-mouth new business. James is a retired police officer and Liz is a journalist. Neither will see 55 again – but that is as much as you need to know on that subject!

They will look after and care for your pets at your home. While specialising in dogs, over the years Liz and James have looked after a wide variety of other animals from horses and donkeys to sheep as well as parrots and caged rats, chickens and cats (in their own home).

The wide variety of dogs that have been in their care over the years is amazing. These include Leonburgers, Irish Wolfhounds, Great Danes, Labradors, Spaniels, Retrievers, Miniature Dachshunds, Collies, Staffies, GSDs, Mastiffs and Wiemeraners as well as a number of Heinz 57.

They also look after a working and a retired guide dog for their holidays, as well as about eight American Cocker Spaniel champions.

Their latest claim to fame is to regularly care for this year's (2009) Greyhound Best of Breed winner at Crufts, along with his doggie family of Teddy, Tanzi and Bunty. His kennel name is Jet's it's Been A Hard Day's Night with Ransley (Imp Nor), but better known to Liz and James as Mr. Higgins – 'nicker' of slippers and any food left on the kitchen work surfaces.

When dogs are with Liz & James they are always treated as part of the family - & so are the dogs! If they live next to a pub, you can guess where the dogs might go after they've had a walk! Living right on the coast, the dogs can enjoy the myriad of beaches in Thanet and are also given plenty of TLC at all times. They are even allowed on the bed, if the owners don't mind!
